Q: What if I have more than 3 rooms I want you to work with?

A: No problem! In this case we will craft a custom design package tailored to your specific needs. We will revert to a price per square foot method vs. price per room.

Q: What exactly is a design fee?

A: As designers, we spend countless hours perfecting floor plans, 3D renderings, the final design concept, and sourcing all the items to make a space special. All while staying within your preferred budget and trying to work within lead times. All these things, plus our knowledge, skill, expertise, and degrees go into the price of our "design service fee". This fee covers all the work done for the first presentation of design choices, such as: inspiration boards, floorplans, 3D renderings, shopping, and sourcing. If choosing our Gold Design Package, this fee also covers 24/7 access to us for support via call, text or email; our Personal Shopper Experience where we shop & order everything for you; oversee all deliveries & install of product; as well as come to your home for install & accessorizing!

Q: Do you source all pieces from the Industrial Cottage?

A: Not always. While we do strive to source as much as possible within our own store & vendors, it is simply impossible for everything. When there is a need to source elsewhere we pull from other retailers in which we have trade accounts to ensure you receive the best price possible!

Q: Can my current furniture be incorporated into the new design plan?

A: Absolutely! We strive to utilize as much of your current pieces into the new design plan as possible. You’ve spent a lifetime accumulating things that make you happy. We find that your current furniture is a good jumping-off point for a more cohesive design plan. Our Gold Design Package does include access to our onsite workroom for custom painting of any of your current pieces you’d like re-done to fit the new design of your space better.

Q: Do you supply a contractor?

A: While we can offer suggestions we typically ask that our clients supply their own contractor. We prefer that you work directly with your contractor and complete any demo/reno before we step in!

Q: What if I see something online that looks similar to what you specified for less money? Can I buy that myself?

A: Imagine baking a cake and having someone else trying to add ingredients at the last minute or frosting it in a style that isn't in keeping with the original intent. The cake won't be as the baker, or in this case the interior designer intended. It's tempting to do your own shopping to save money, but in the end, we find that it costs our client in scale and quality mistakes which means they end up buying items twice and experiencing frustration from the extra costs. If you prefer to do your own purchasing, consider choosing our Silver Design Package!

Q: If I work with you do I receive discounts on items?

A: There are many different benefits to working with a designer. One being that we have access to a lot of items through trade programs. With that being said, it does not mean that those items are offered at a discounted price. Some trades require that we sell their product at retail cost. We strive to source the most cost efficient pieces while maintaining the integrity & quality of the item. We will never pressure you into purchasing something you can't afford and will always have multiple options for you to consider at various price points.

Q: Why should I choose you over someone else?

A: What sets our packages apart from other designers is our flat rate model. Most designers charge an hourly design service fee which can be hard to budget for. This often results in client shock by the end of the project when they unknowingly owe the designer for the many, many hours put in. This is why we've pre-calculated the time it'll take to accomplish your project and show you that price upfront from the very beginning. There won't be any unexpected balances due at the end of our projects. Being that we are also a retail store allows you (and us) many more options when it comes to product sourcing, and ensures that you are receiving the best price possible by eliminating the middle-man. Additionally we have a full in-house workroom which allows us to incorporate custom designed furniture & use any existing pieces you currently have.

Q: How much do people typically spend on furniture, art & accessories for a room?

You set the budget you want to spend on products. We design each space down to the tiniest details—even if it means some items may need to land on your wish list for later. We do ask that to stay within your budget, make sure all your decisions are set in stone before work begins, as every change in the design plan will cause us to have to charge you more. We always attempt to get all of your essential pieces like seating, rugs, and a few design accents into whatever budget you set. We want you to be thrilled with your design plan!
